Eligibility GSET

  • Candidates are eligible to appear in the GSET who have completed / are studying in the final year of a UGC specified Master’s Degree.
  • “Candidates who have appeared or will be appearing in the final year at the qualifying Master’s degree examination may also submit applications, or candidates whose result is awaited may submit applications, or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may submit applications.”
  • Those candidates who are studying in the first year of two years course or in first two semesters of a four semesters course of Master’s Degree cannot for this test.
  • “The authorities require candidates to appear for GSET in the subject of their Post Graduation only.”

  • Paper-I shall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions each carrying 2 marks. The questions which will be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate.
  • Paper-II shall consist of 100 objective type compulsory questions each carrying 2 marks which will be based on the subject selected by the candidate. 
  • Syllabus of Test: All questions of Paper-I & Paper-II will be compulsory, covering entire syllabus (including all electives, without options). Syllabi for all Gujarat SET (GSET) subjects can be downloaded from the Gujarat SET Website www.gujaratset.ac.in.
  • No Negative Marking.

Procedure & Criteria for Declaration of Result:

  • Step I: Minimum marks to be obtained in Gujarat SET (GSET) for considering a candidates for eligibility for lectureship. The Candidates are required to obtain following minimum marks separately in Paper-I, Paper-II & Paper-III as given below: 
  • Step II: Amongst those candidates who have cleared step I, a merit list will be prepared subject-wise & category-wise using the aggregate marks of all the three papers secured by such candidates..
  • Step III: Top 15% candidates (for each subject & category), from the merit list mentioned under step II, will be declared Gujarat SET (GSET) qualified for eligibility for lectureship.

GeneralGeneral (Unreserved) category candidates must have appeared in both papers and received at least 40% aggregate marks in both papers considered together.
OBC /PWD/SC/ST For all applicants belonging to the reserved categories, namely SC, ST, SEBC (Non-Creamy Layer), PWD(PH/VH), and Transgender, at least 35 percent aggregate marks in both papers taken together are required.
